A Group Of Teenaged Girls Gets Beaten By Grown Men After Assaulting Them First During Australian Mardi Gras

Police are searching for a fourth man involved in a brawl that left three teenage girls injured amid Mardi Gras celebrations in Sydney over the weekend.

Three men will appear in court on Tuesday after the incident at a Pyrmont park on Saturday night, which resulted in two of the girls suffering what police described as “one punch” attacks.

Emergency services were called to Pirrama Park about 9.40pm on Saturday following reports of a group of people fighting.

Police said they were told there was an argument among a group of revellers before three girls, two aged 16 and one 15, in the group were allegedly repeatedly assaulted.

Paul Dunstan, acting commander Sydney City Police Area Command, said there was a suggestion members of the group – which contained a number of teenage girls – had recently disembarked a boat at the nearby wharf.

Phone video footage of the incident, posted on Instagram, shows a number of people, some in rainbow-themed costumes, involved in a scuffle, showing the girls striking the men before things become more aggressive.

The footage shows one girl being pulled by the hair over a ledge in the park by a man, before being tackled to the ground. Others in the group attempt to pull the man off the girl.

Two of the girls, aged 15 and 16, received treatment for facial injuries and concussions at RPA on Saturday night. Mr Dunstan said the 15-year-old experienced significant bruising to her face.
