On Saturday, April 10, 2021, at approximately 9:55 AM, Royse City Police Officer Michael Baley was helping a stranded motorist in the 200 Block of Westbound IH30 when he was struck by a vehicle.
Officer Baley was out of his patrol car and in the grassy median when he was struck by a vehicle that lost control and left the roadway. Officer Baley was taken by ambulance to Baylor Hospital in Dallas with minor injuries. He was treated and later released.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are handling the accident investigation.
The cause of the accident has not been determined but driver inattention and speed are possible factors.
