Los Angeles- Three people were hospitalized with traumatic injuries after a high-speed pursuit ended with the suspect’s vehicle crashing into a power pole and overturning in Echo Park Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The driver of the car carrying five people appeared to be traveling at very high speeds through the northeast Los Angeles area as Sky5 arrived above the scene around 5:15 p.m.
Officers initially tried to pull them over for a traffic violation around 5 p.m. in Glendale, near the corner of San Fernando Road and Western Avenue, according to Glendale police Sgt. Christian Hauptmann.
Police had received information that the vehicle’s occupants were possibly armed and dangerous, Hauptmann added.
The pursuit came to a dramatic end around 5:25 p.m. when the vehicle struck a power pole, spun out of control and flipped over near a gas station at the intersection of Glendale Boulevard and Berkeley Avenue.
Sky5 was over the scene where five people exited the vehicle after the crash, each apparently able to walk, and were taken into custody.
