A disturbing video posted to social media shows a Chinese man pushing his wife out their 5th story window which was later learned to be a murder/suicide.
The early reports are that the incident was over new, strict measures by the Chinese government to lock down entire cities such as Shanghai again based on their zero COVID policy.
Shanghai with its 26 million people last week began a two-stage lockdown, with residents of the eastern Pudong section supposed to be allowed to leave their homes Friday, while their neighbors in the western Puxi section underwent their own four-day isolation period.
Deaths by suicide in Hong Kong reached “crisis level” during the city’s fifth Covid wave, new research revealed.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention at the University of Hong Kong said its suicide index had registered 4.03 deaths per day over a seven-day period between 11 and 18 March, crossing the crisis-level mark of 3.56 in its rolling analysis.
The index dipped to 3.69 on 20 March, but rose to 4.01 a day later.
The system consists of three warning levels, including medium risk, high risk and crisis level. It offers an estimated number of deaths by suicide every day by calculating a weighted average of cases reported by the media in the previous year.
