Colton Herta was involved in a horrific crash during Friday's Carb Day final practice session ahead of Sunday's Indy 500 main race. The Andretti Autosport driver was rushed to the medical center.
Herta announced on Twitter that he is fine and did not suffer any major injuries. In fact, the 22-year-old driver will be available to race on Sunday with a backup vehicle and will be starting 25th.
Herta's car flipped in the air before skidding across the asphalt during practice at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. As he has before, Herta shrugged off the accident, and was cleared to drive at the Indianapolis 500.
"It's nice, that feeling of getting back in the race car," Herta said. "I always felt like that was a strong suit of mine, of being able to push that to the side and focus forward on what the next thing is."
