The Utah Highway Patrol is reminding people to slow down and move over after a trooper’s vehicle was hit Thursday morning.
According to a 6:26 a.m. tweet from UHP, troopers were responding to some crashes on Interstate 215 at Redwood Road when another vehicle lost control and crashed into the trooper’s car.
Fortunately, the trooper was not hurt, as he was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
According to a news release shared later that day by UHP, troopers were responding to three crashes in the area.
One of the troopers had stepped out of his car to check on a crash on the left shoulder of the road when a pickup truck spun out, hit a barrier, and then smashed into the rear of the trooper’s car.
Dash cam video of the collision was released Thursday afternoon.
The news release said, “During this time of year, UHP would like to remind drivers to slow down and move over for emergency and service vehicles. Roadways can be icy and slick even when they appear clear.”
