In Stary Oskol (Belgorod region), traffic police officers stumbled upon a broken Lada Granta. As it turned out, shortly before that, she was stolen from the parking lot. After some time, the police figured out the hijacker, who turned out to be a 21-year-old local resident who has not yet been convicted.
“According to preliminary data, on the night of January 14, the attacker left the drinking establishment and, seeing a car in the parking lot, decided to take a ride. Taking advantage of the fact that the car was not locked, and the ignition keys were in the cabin, the young man started it and left for a ride. Having lost control, he hit an obstacle - a roundabout - and fled the scene," the Interior Ministry said.
The citizen received a case under Part 1 of Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hijacking), up to five years in prison. Plus administrative for "failure to fulfill duties in connection with an accident" - 15 days / deprivation of rights for up to a year and a half.
