A 62-year-old man has been charged in the fatal shooting of a locksmith at a gas station in Birmingham. The incident happened on Friday afternoon when the suspect, William Thompson, allegedly shot the victim, 49-year-old Timothy Austin, multiple times. Thompson then fled the scene but was later apprehended and charged with capital murder. According to witnesses, the two men had a verbal altercation before the shooting occurred. Austin was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown. Thompson is being held without bond and is set to appear in court.
