Israel Police confirm that Israeli forces were involved in an operation that resulted in the deaths of four Hamas terrorists in a car in the West Bank city of Tulkarem.
In a joint statement issued with the Shin Bet, the police disclosed that members of the elite Yamam counterterrorism unit successfully eliminated four members of this particular cell.
Among the deceased, two have been identified: Izz a-Din Awad, a Hamas commander, and Jihad Maharaj Shehadeh, a commander affiliated with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades.
The joint statement further revealed that this terror cell had been responsible for numerous shooting attacks and had been operating with guidance and financial support from Hamas in the Gaza Strip and from abroad, in addition to receiving support from other terror organizations. According to the authorities, they had received substantial funding amounting to hundreds of thousands of shekels to advance their terror-related activities.
The activities of this cell were multifaceted, encompassing efforts to arm themselves, plan bombing attacks, launch rockets from the West Bank, and recruit additional individuals for their nefarious plans. During the operation conducted today, two assault rifles were seized from the members of the cell, as reported by the police.
