A 23-year-old man died after accidentally falling from the third floor of a hotel while chasing a dog in Hyderabad.
The victim, identified as Uday, was staying at VV Pride Hotel, located within the Chanda Nagar Police Station limits, when the incident occurred.
According to the police, Uday had travelled to the city with his family and was staying in Ashok Nagar, Ramachandrapuram. He had booked a room at the hotel on Sunday to spend time with his friends. While on the balcony of his third-floor room, Uday spotted a dog and, in an attempt to chase it, accidentally fell through a window.
A video showed a dog roaming the third floor corridors of the hotel. Uday spotted it and chased after it from one end to another and back. One section of the window was open and while chasing the dog, Uday slipped and couldn't control his momentum and accidentally fell through the open window. The video shows one of his friends looking out the window, before going and informing others and running downstairs to get help.
The fall, which occurred around 12:30 am on Monday, left Uday with severe injuries. Despite his friends' immediate efforts to rush him to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The police have moved his body to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Questions are being raised about how a dog could have accessed the third floor of the hotel. CCTV footage of the area is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
