The internet just got a brutal reminder that male cheerleaders might be the most casually insane athletes on any field, mat, or court.
A viral clip from the University of South Florida’s coed cheer team at the Sunshine Stunt Battle on March 29, 2025, shows base Brandon Gray, a 23-year-old former football lineman, doing things with gravity that should probably require a permit. While everyone else is blinking, Gray is out here throwing his flyer, Ashlyn Pinner, around like a human baton and catching her with one arm like he’s bored.
This isn’t “rah rah” cheerleading. This is CrossFit meets physics meets “hope my shoulders never give out.”
Gray hits a one arm rewind, which in normal person terms means he takes a fully grown human who is already moving and launches her overhead using a single arm. Then there’s the handski lift, where he’s holding close to 100 pounds above his head, stabilizing her mid transition while she shifts her weight. No struggle. No wobble. Just absolute confidence bordering on disrespectful.
