A viral clip from the University of South Florida’s coed cheer team at the Sunshine Stunt Battle on March 29, 2025, shows base Brandon Gray, a 23-year-old former football lineman, doing things with gravity that should probably require a permit. While everyone else is blinking, Gray is out here throwing his flyer, Ashlyn Pinner, around like a human baton and catching her with one arm like he’s bored.
This isn’t “rah rah” cheerleading. This is CrossFit meets physics meets “hope my shoulders never give out.”
Gray hits a one arm rewind, which in normal person terms means he takes a fully grown human who is already moving and launches her overhead using a single arm. Then there’s the handski lift, where he’s holding close to 100 pounds above his head, stabilizing her mid transition while she shifts her weight. No struggle. No wobble.
