Florida Man Arrested For Sexual Battery Caught On Video Grabbing A Female Cop's Backside While Being Perp-Walked In Cuffs

A Florida man already accused of sexually battering a college student is now facing additional charges after allegedly attempting to grope a female detective while in police custody, according to an arrest report.
Steven Rivers, 30, was arrested Tuesday in connection with a sexual battery investigation at Florida Memorial University. Authorities say Rivers is accused of following a scholarship student on campus before attacking her. Police confirmed the following day that DNA evidence linked Rivers to the alleged assault.
The situation escalated further Wednesday morning as officers escorted Rivers to a transport vehicle for transfer to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. According to police, a lead female detective walked past Rivers during the process when he allegedly made a sudden and aggressive move toward her.
“Mr. Rivers aggressively reached over, forcefully attempting” to grab the detective’s buttocks, the arrest report states.
The incident was captured on video by NBC6. Footage shows Rivers dressed in a white jumpsuit with his hands cuffed behind his back as officers guide him toward the vehicle. As a female detective holds a door open, Rivers can be seen reaching behind him in her direction.
Officers immediately restrained Rivers and pressed him against a railing to prevent further contact, authorities said. The report notes that Rivers then “spontaneously chuckled” and made a profane remark dismissing the officers’ response.
Police also confirmed that Rivers had recently been released from the Florida Department of Corrections in December 2025 after serving time for lewd and lascivious behavior stemming from a prior case in Palm Beach County.
Rivers now faces multiple charges as the investigations continue.
