Who Was The Most Terrifying Movie Villain In History? Starfish Hitler, Of Course!
The internet has officially unearthed another “how was this ever real” moment, and this time it comes from 1974.
A fight clip from episode 26 of Kamen Rider X is going viral thanks to its absolutely unhinged villain known as “Starfish Hitler.” Yes, that is his actual nickname among fans. He is exactly what it sounds like: a starfish themed dictator who can summon electric shocks and literally self destruct if things aren’t going his way.
The footage shows him squaring off with Kamen Rider in peak tokusatsu fashion. Rubber suits. Dramatic poses. Explosions that look like they were made with fireworks and hope. It’s chaotic, earnest, and deeply committed to the bit.
Kamen Rider X was the third installment in Toei’s long running Kamen Rider franchise and ran for 35 episodes. Like many tokusatsu shows of the era, it blended superhero morals with monster of the week absurdity, using low budget practical effects to create villains that were equal parts terrifying and unintentionally hilarious.
This is also the same creative DNA that later influenced shows like Power Rangers, which borrowed the suit acting, fight choreography, and wild enemy designs for Western audiences.
What makes Starfish Hitler stand out is the sheer confidence of the concept. A kaiju dictator with lightning powers and a built in self destruct mechanism, dropped into a children’s superhero show to teach lessons about justice and courage.
