Watch As New England Wide Receiver Mack Hollins Show Up To The Superbowl In Handcuffs, Dressed Like Hannibal Lecter
35 days ago
New England Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins made a striking and unconventional entrance at Super Bowl 60, arriving at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, wearing handcuffs, a prison-style jumpsuit, and a Hannibal Lecter-inspired mask—while notably walking barefoot.
The 32-year-old was seen moving through the stadium corridors on Super Bowl Sunday carrying a high school football jersey belonging to Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Hollins later donned the jersey during pregame warmups, though he kept his shoes off throughout, a habit he has occasionally displayed in the past.
The unusual outfit immediately sparked speculation online and among media observers. USA TODAY’s Jack McKessy suggested the look may have been a reference to Hannibal Lecter, the fictional serial killer portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs. McKessy noted a possible symbolic connection involving the Seahawks’ co-owner Jody Allen and actress Jodie Foster, who starred opposite Hopkins in the film, though the theory remains speculative.
Others pointed to the words “Range 13” printed on the back of Hollins’ jumpsuit, suggesting a potential nod to Alcatraz Island, the infamous former federal prison located in nearby San Francisco Bay. “Range 13” is also the name of a high-security unit at ADX Florence in Colorado, often referred to as the “Alcatraz of the Rockies.”
While the exact meaning behind Hollins’ attire remains unclear, the wide receiver has a history of unconventional fashion choices, particularly during his time with the Buffalo Bills. His Super Bowl appearance, while extreme, aligns with a personal brand that often favors spectacle over subtlety.
The Patriots did not comment on the outfit, and Hollins has not publicly explained the reasoning behind the look.
