Two friends were driving on the highway, listening to music and enjoying the ride, when a moment meant to be harmless fun turned into a dangerous situation that is now sparking debate online.
In the video, the driver is behind the wheel while her passenger begins dancing along to the music. What starts as casual seat dancing quickly escalates when the passenger, who is not wearing a seat belt, climbs onto the seat and begins twerking while the car is still moving at highway speed.
The driver appears surprised and amused at first. Rather than pulling over or insisting her friend sit down, she later says she thought it would be funny to lightly brake, hoping to force her passenger back into her seat.
The brake tap, however, is stronger than intended.
The unrestrained passenger is thrown forward, slamming into the rearview mirror with enough force to shatter the windshield. The video then shows the aftermath, with visible damage to the glass and the realization that the situation could have ended far more seriously.
