A Southern California couple has described a nightmare ordeal after accusing a fellow tenant of secretly poisoning their food with toxic insect repellent, leaving them seriously ill and fearing for their lives.
Timothy Bradbury is accused of repeatedly spraying the couple’s food with the chemical substance, as well as breaking into their room, cutting up their clothes, and stealing personal items including medication and identification.
According to the couple, they began to feel increasingly unwell over time, suffering a string of alarming symptoms that sent them to the doctor. Medical staff later told them the symptoms were consistent with poisoning, prompting them to alert authorities.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to the report and allegedly found Bradbury barricaded inside the property, escalating concerns over his behavior.
The couple claim they later discovered evidence suggesting their meals had been deliberately contaminated with insect repellent, a substance that can be highly dangerous if ingested.
Despite the disturbing allegations, the couple say Bradbury was charged only with a misdemeanor and subsequently released, a decision that has left them shaken and angry.
“We were terrified,” the couple reportedly said, adding that they now fear for their safety after the suspect’s release.
Authorities have not released further details about the investigation, and it remains unclear whether additional charges could be filed as the case develops.
