A wealthy Chinese factory boss has sparked jaw-dropping scenes after piling up $26 million in cash and letting his employees grab their share at a lavish year-end party.
Cui Peijun, the chairman of Henan Kuangshan Crane Co., Ltd., stunned workers when he announced that nearly 70 per cent of the company’s annual profits would be handed straight back to staff.
Around 7,000 employees gathered for the celebration in China’s Henan province, where piles of cash were stacked on tables as cheers erupted across the room. Workers were seen smiling, clapping and filming the moment as envelopes were distributed during what many described as an unforgettable night.
The extraordinary giveaway reportedly totalled around $26 million, making it one of the most generous bonus distributions seen in China’s manufacturing sector.
Mr Cui insisted the move was not about showing off his wealth, but about easing the pressure facing younger workers struggling with rising living costs.
“It is not that I love giving out money,” he said. “It is that young people are burdened with car loans and mortgages and any relief we can offer helps.”
Employees said the bonus would make a real difference to their lives, with some planning to put the money toward mortgage repayments, while others said it would help support parents, children or long-delayed personal goals.
