Pop superstar Britney Spears has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Ventura County, sparking a wave of concern and speculation online as fans attempt to piece together the details of the incident.
The 44-year-old singer was taken into custody late Wednesday evening after authorities allegedly observed erratic driving.
According to reports, Spears was later transported to a hospital where officials drew blood to determine her blood alcohol content (BAC). Sources cited by TMZ claim the pop star has been telling people her BAC measured around .06.
In California, the legal driving limit is .08 percent, though drivers can still face DUI charges if police believe they were operating a vehicle dangerously or erratically.
Despite the arrest, Spears was not injured during the incident.
Authorities reportedly booked Spears into custody at 3:02 a.m. Thursday morning, several hours after the initial stop.
She was then released at 6:07 a.m., meaning the pop star spent roughly three hours in custody before being freed.
As the news spread across the internet, videos from previous years quickly resurfaced online showing Spears involved in minor parking lot mishaps, including clips where she appeared to bump into parked vehicles.
