Shoppers in Lubbock, Texas, were treated to a scene straight out of the Wild West after a horse pulling a buggy reportedly bolted down the street following a crash with a parked car.
The chaotic moment unfolded outside stores including Lululemon and Chico's, where witnesses say the horse and buggy collided with a parked vehicle before everything quickly spiraled out of control.
Video circulating online shows the horse suddenly breaking free and sprinting down the road after the impact, leaving the buggy behind as it dashed away.
The rider, who had been controlling the horse moments earlier, was thrown to the ground during the crash as stunned onlookers watched the animal take off.
As bystanders tried to make sense of what had just happened, the horse could be seen running off into the distance, disappearing down the street in what one witness described as looking like it “ran straight into the sunset.”
It remains unclear what initially caused the horse to crash into the parked car, though the sudden impact appeared to spook the animal and trigger the dramatic escape.
Shoppers and passersby gathered along the sidewalk following the incident, many pulling out their phones to record the bizarre scene unfolding outside the popular retail stores.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the rider’s condition or how long it took to locate the runaway horse. However, the video has quickly drawn attention online, with viewers stunned by the unexpected sight of a horse and buggy crash playing out in the middle of a busy shopping area.
