A shocking dashcam video circulating online is raising serious concerns about the safety of autonomous vehicle technology after a Tesla Cybertruck allegedly operating in self-driving mode nearly sent a Houston mother and her infant off a bridge before slamming violently into a barrier.
The incident, which reportedly occurred in Houston, was captured on dashcam footage that shows the electric pickup suddenly veering toward the edge of the roadway before crashing into an overpass barrier.
According to the woman involved, the terrifying moment unfolded while the vehicle’s automated driving system was engaged.
She claims the truck abruptly lost control, drifting toward the side of the bridge in what she described as a near catastrophe that could have sent the vehicle plunging off the roadway.
The impact with the barrier was severe, leaving the mother shaken and injured while her infant was also inside the vehicle during the crash.
The woman says she suffered multiple injuries as a result of the incident and has now filed a lawsuit seeking $1 million in damages from Tesla.
