A 20-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly driving her car through a crowd of people in a dramatic and disturbing incident caught on surveillance video.
Kaydence Carpenter is accused of ploughing through the group while behind the wheel of a Tesla in Lexington, leaving at least four people injured.
Footage obtained by local media shows a chaotic scene unfolding as a crowd gathers around the vehicle on Short Street.
According to reports from the Lexington Herald Leader, the group appeared to surround the car as the driver initially reversed in an apparent attempt to escape.
Moments later, the situation escalated dramatically.
The vehicle is then seen accelerating forward, turning onto the street and striking several pedestrians as others scramble to get out of the way.
Witnesses described people running in panic as the car surged through the crowd.
Four individuals were reportedly injured in the incident, though the extent of their injuries has not been fully disclosed.
Authorities allege that Carpenter was intoxicated at the time of the घटना.
