This is the shocking moment a train conductor is violently shoved out of a carriage and onto gravel below after confronting a passenger over smoking during a stop.
The incident unfolded on March 30 aboard a train traveling from Chelyabinsk to Saint Petersburg, when a 47 year old man pushed conductor Irina Dmitrieva out of an open carriage door at Ponazyrevo station.
Security footage captures the moment the man stands behind Dmitrieva before suddenly shoving her from the train, sending her falling around 1.5 meters onto the gravel below.
The fall left her with serious injuries, including a spinal compression fracture, a broken arm, and a concussion, with doctors saying she now faces months of recovery and rehabilitation.
While early online posts exaggerated or confused details of the incident, reports indicate the confrontation stemmed from the conductor asking the passenger to stop smoking during the stop.
What followed, however, escalated far beyond any routine dispute.
Authorities say there was no prolonged altercation before the attack, with the shove appearing sudden and forceful.
The suspect, who has a prior criminal record, remained on the train after the incident and was detained upon arrival at its destination.
In a further alarming development, he is also accused of threatening another staff member with a spoon during the journey.
He now faces criminal charges for intentionally causing harm and making threats of violence.
The incident has sparked concern over the safety of railway workers, particularly when dealing with difficult passengers in confined environments.
For Dmitrieva, the recovery ahead is expected to be long and difficult, as investigators continue to examine the circumstances that led to the violent confrontation.
