A rising music star has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a missing teenage girl was discovered inside a vehicle linked to him in Los Angeles.
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, 21, was taken into custody in Hollywood on Thursday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
He is suspected in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been reported missing from California’s Inland Empire in 2024.
Her remains were later discovered in September 2025 inside a Tesla that had been taken to a tow yard in Hollywood, in a case that has since raised troubling questions about how long the vehicle went unnoticed.
Police say Burke was arrested shortly after 4:30 p.m., though officials have not publicly detailed the specific evidence that led to his detention.
He is currently being held without bail, and the case is expected to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for potential charges.
In a statement released following the arrest, Burke’s legal team stressed that he has not been formally charged and insisted he will fight the allegations.
“Evidence will show that he did not commit this crime,” his attorneys said, adding that they intend to “vigorously defend his innocence.”
The case has drawn significant attention online, particularly given Burke’s public profile and social media presence, with fans expressing shock at the developments.
