A dramatic dashcam video has captured the astonishing moment an armed robbery in Cape Town took an unexpected turn when a suspect appeared to spare an Uber driver after asking about his religion.
The footage, recorded on December 24, 2024, shows a bearded driver sitting in his vehicle as he is suddenly confronted by a group of young men during what appears to be an attempted armed robbery.
Tension quickly escalates inside the car.
One of the suspects can be seen pointing what appears to be a weapon at the driver, while another demands items, including his phone.
The driver raises his hands and remains calm, trying to defuse the situation as the men press him.

“Are you Muslim?” one of the suspects asks.
“Yes,” the driver responds.
