One of the funniest things about getting older is realizing that the “burn it all down” crowd eventually has to start worrying about mortgage payments, lower back pain, and whether their tomatoes are getting enough sunlight.

That reality hits perfectly in this incredible video montage making the rounds online, showing legendary rock musicians in their wild, chaotic prime… compared with the unbelievably normal jobs they ended up doing later in life.

And honestly? It rules.

The video highlights guys like James Williamson from The Stooges, who went from shirtless proto-punk maniac energy to working as an engineer in Silicon Valley. Terry Chimes from The Clash became a chiropractor. Bill Berry from R.E.M. left one of the biggest bands on earth to become a literal farmer. Jason Everman, who somehow played with BOTH Nirvana and Soundgarden, eventually became a military guy and later worked in aviation.

There’s just something objectively hilarious about imagining these dudes in the 70s and 80s absolutely detonating hotel rooms, screaming anti-establishment lyrics into microphones, and living like human fireworks… only to eventually settle into careers where they probably answer emails that begin with “Per my last message.”

Nobody stays 24 forever.

At some point, the leather jackets turn into quarter-zips. The cigarettes turn into cholesterol medication. The all-night benders turn into waking up at 6:30 a.m. naturally for no reason whatsoever.

That’s life.
