There are few things in sports more dangerous than talking recklessly before a fight and then immediately discovering the other guy was very serious about his job.

That’s exactly what happened at the BnD Black Cup featherweight event in Bucheon, South Korea, where Hyuk Min Ji, appropriately nicknamed “Red Hawk,” delivered one of the most brutal “FAFO” beatdowns MMA fans have seen this year.

And the video somehow makes it even worse for Felipe Pereira.

The now-viral footage doesn’t just show the fight itself. It also captures the pre-fight tension, including heated faceoffs, shoving, and Pereira aggressively jawing at Ji before the bout.

Classic fight promotion stuff.

The problem is that eventually the cage door closes.

Once the fight actually started, Ji looked like a man who had spent the entire week taking the disrespect personally. Pereira had absolutely no answers once things hit the mat.

After overwhelming Pereira early, Ji unleashed a vicious ground-and-pound sequence that had viewers online wondering why the referee took so long to intervene. Pereira absorbed repeated unanswered shots while trapped underneath as Ji continued hammering away until the stoppage finally came.

By the end of it, the entire thing felt less like a competitive fight and more like a live demonstration of why pre-fight trash talk can occasionally age horribly.
