A Philadelphia crossing guard is being hailed as a hero after rescuing a child from a crashed stolen truck, then immediately going viral for delivering an unforgettable television interview while calmly eating an ice cream cone.
Jamele Ransom sprang into action after a stolen truck crashed into a playground area, creating a chaotic scene that could have ended in tragedy.
Miraculously, no children were injured.
During a local news interview following the incident, Ransom described how he rushed toward the wreckage to help trapped victims while still visibly shaken from the ordeal.
At one point during the interview, he shouted: “Thank you, Jesus!”
The crossing guard explained that he was “bobbing and weaving” through the scene as panic erupted around him.
“I grab a kid out, because he’s stuck, frantic, pull him out,” Ransom said.
“Ain’t nobody in there. Guy’s in there. He’s trapped in there. Then I run out and get myself together because my heart is boom, boom, boom, boom.”
What made the interview instantly unforgettable online, however, was the fact that Ransom calmly recounted the dramatic rescue while eating an ice cream cone throughout the segment.
The clip quickly spread across social media, where viewers praised him both for his actions during the crash and for delivering what many called “the most Philly interview ever.”
