Five-Year-Old Girl Found Alive After Spending More Than 30 Hours Trapped In Wreckage Beside Her Dead Parents Following Horror Colorado Crash
32 days ago
A five-year-old girl miraculously survived for more than 30 hours beside her deceased parents after their vehicle plunged off a Colorado highway and rolled down a steep embankment, leaving the wreck hidden from passing drivers.
Little Kayce Griffin was discovered alive inside the mangled vehicle after authorities finally located the crash site, where her parents, 25-year-old Devante Griffin and 24-year-old Klariza Tarango, were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, investigators believe the family’s vehicle had gone unnoticed for well over a day after it veered off the roadway and tumbled down a hill out of sight from traffic.
The heartbreaking discovery was made when troopers eventually spotted the wreckage below the highway.
Officials said neither parent appeared to be wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Authorities also revealed that Kayce had not been restrained inside the vehicle.
Despite the devastating conditions, the young girl somehow survived the ordeal and was even able to walk up the hillside toward rescuers after they arrived.
Emergency crews transported Kayce to Mercy Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries before later being released into the care of her grandfather.
Investigators said there is currently no indication that Devante Griffin, who was driving the vehicle, was impaired when the crash occurred.
The tragedy has left the local community stunned, with many expressing disbelief that the child managed to survive alone for so long in the wreckage.
Authorities have not yet released additional details about what may have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
