Raw cellphone footage posted on X captured the devastating moment in excruciating detail, racking up millions of views in hours, and sparking fierce backlash over filming such raw grief for internet clout.
The clip shows the newly freed inmate, dressed in a white tank top, walking out with visible excitement. Family members surround him. Then a woman, wearing what appear to be smart glasses, checks her phone and delivers the soul-crushing news.“Jermaine died,” she tells him.
The man’s face collapses in shock. “Bro?” he repeats in disbelief, pacing back and forth as the horrific reality sinks in. “Bro?!” Family members can be heard crying in the background. The entire scene lasts under two minutes but feels like an eternity.
According to the post, Jermaine died in a car accident roughly 30 minutes before his brother’s release while hurrying to pick him up. What should have been a celebration became a parking-lot tragedy.
