A jaw-dropping display of gym stupidity has gone viral after a clueless lifter decided basic physics was optional, unloading a massively weighted squat bar from just one side and sending it flipping like a deadly seesaw straight at a nearby woman.
The incident, captured on video, shows the reckless moment unfolding in a crowded gym. A young man in a black T-shirt casually strips heavy plates, including blues and reds, off the left side of an Olympic bar still loaded on the right.
As the imbalance grows, the bar tips violently, crashing down inches from the woman in bright blue shorts and a sports bra who was standing right there on the platform, phone in hand. She jumps back just in time to avoid what could have been a brutal impact from the spinning bar and flying weights.
Gym veterans know the drill: Uneven unloading turns a standard 45-pound bar into a dangerous lever. Remove too much from one end and the loaded side drops fast, often with plates flying. Forums and past incidents are littered with similar near-misses, from bars smashing walls to coming within inches of heads.
