In a move sparking outrage across social media, popular YouTuber Jesse Ridgway, better known as McJuggerNuggets with millions of subscribers. and his wife, Ashley, have revealed they terminated their pregnancy after learning the unborn child had Down syndrome.

The couple, who excitedly announced they were expecting their first child back in March, shared the devastating update this week in emotional Instagram Stories and a tear-filled video that has since gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

"Things have been pretty dark for a while for us, and we felt this was gonna be a nice little ray of sunshine, and it's not," Ridgway said in the clip, as the pair sat on the floor processing the news.

After receiving the Trisomy 21 diagnosis, the influencers said they researched the potential complications, including heart defects and other health issues, and made what they called an "extremely traumatic" and "very difficult decision" to end the pregnancy. Ashley reportedly underwent the procedure earlier this week.

The announcement has ignited a firestorm online, with critics blasting the couple for what many are calling selfish eugenics and a heartbreaking rejection of a child who could have brought joy despite the challenges.

Supporters of the couple argue it's a private family matter and that not everyone is equipped to raise a child with special needs, citing the high costs and lifelong demands. But the backlash has been fierce, with many pointing to the joyful lives led by people with Down syndrome.

Videos and photos shared by parents of Down syndrome children flooded replies, showing happy, loving kids who are "the purest souls" and "always a ray of sunshine."U.S. statistics show that an estimated 67% to 85%, or even up to 90%, according to some counselors, of pregnancies diagnosed with Down syndrome end in abortion.

Ridgway has defended the choice, noting in posts that it was best for their family long-term. The couple tied the knot last year and had framed the pregnancy as a bright spot in tough times.

But filming their raw reaction and sharing it publicly has only fueled accusations of clout-chasing amid tragedy."The narcissism to film themselves crying," one user fumed. "They chose to kill their baby because he might inconvenience them. It’s nauseating."

Others called it straight-up eugenics, comparing it to efforts to eliminate "imperfect" lives.

The saga highlights the ongoing national debate over abortion, especially late-term and selective cases tied to disabilities. While some defend the couple's "right to choose," pro-life voices insist every child deserves a chance, Down syndrome or not.
