BREAKING: Frightening Video Shows Camo-Clad Gunman Slays Cop and Civilian in Montreal Horror Shootout

MONTREAL — A camo-wearing gunman opened fire on police in a terrifying midday shootout Monday, leaving one Montreal cop and a civilian dead in what witnesses described as absolute chaos.

The deadly confrontation erupted around 11:35 a.m. in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood near the corner of Courtrai and Trans Island avenues, sending terrified residents scrambling for cover.

Shaky horror footage captured the carnage: police cruisers with lights blazing, officers taking cover, a figure in camouflage clutching a long gun near a planter, and at least one person down on the ground amid the pandemonium. Multiple gunshots ring out as cops close in on the armed suspect.

Montreal police (SPVM) rushed to the scene after reports of shots fired. An emergency alert blared across the area shortly after noon, ordering residents to shelter in place, lock their doors, and stay away from windows. Parts of the Decarie Expressway were shut down and transit was disrupted.

By 1:22 p.m., police announced the suspect had been “neutralized.” Two officers and one civilian were initially reported injured.

Tragically, one of those officers later died from his wounds. A civilian was also killed in the melee. A female officer was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The suspect was confirmed dead by late afternoon.

Witness Brandon Elkaim told reporters he first heard what sounded like construction,

until the rapid burst of 10 to 12 shots changed everything.“Parents were yanking their kids off the park play structure and running,” he said. “Police swarmed the area… hiding behind cars.

SWAT team arrived shortly after. It’s been a ghost town ever since.”The quiet, family-oriented neighborhood, home to schools and a nearby grocery store, was left reeling.

Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada posted condolences, saying her “deepest condolences” go to the slain officer’s family, loved ones and colleagues.

Police have not released the suspect’s identity or any possible motive. The investigation remains active.
