A quick-thinking security guard went full NFL lineman Monday afternoon to stop a crew of masked thugs from storming a trendy SoHo resale shop, and the dramatic CCTV footage is blowing up online.
Tyrell Gibbs, 34, was on the job at the hip luxury resale boutique Rebelonging when a woman casually strolled inside. Moments later, two masked men tried to bum-rush the door behind her in what cops believe was a coordinated smash-and-grab.
As seen in the shocking surveillance video, Gibbs sprang into action. The former tight end and receiver planted himself in the doorway and used his body like a human shield, shoving back the would-be robbers as they pushed and clawed to get inside.
For nearly 20 seconds, the burly guard held the line, refusing to let the punks through. The intruders eventually gave up and bolted empty-handed down the street, leaving the store and its staff unharmed.
The shop, which had only been open about a week, quickly hailed their hero employee.“Thank you to our amazing security for keeping us safe,” Rebelonging posted alongside the clip.
Gibbs later told The Post he tapped into his boyhood football experience to shut down the illegal rush.
The wild footage has racked up millions of views across social media, with New Yorkers praising the guard as a true hero in a city battling nonstop retail theft.
Police are investigating the incident, which unfolded shortly before 3 p.m. on June 22 near the store’s entrance.
