PYEONGTAEK, South Korea — A boozed-up American man in his 30s turned a quiet South Korean street into a war zone early Sunday morning, sucker-punching and kicking two U.S. soldiers before dancing erratically over one unconscious victim, shocking video shows.
The jaw-dropping footage, which has exploded across social media, captures the chaotic scene in Sinjang-dong, a neighborhood right next to Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, about 60 kilometers south of Seoul.
Around 6 a.m. on June 21, the burly suspect, a U.S. citizen who has lived in South Korea for years, allegedly launched a drunken attack on two US Forces Korea (USFK) service members in their 20s who were out with a female companion.
The brutal sequence caught on camera:
The fit man with distinctive blonde hair and tattoos is seen kicking and shoving one of the soldiers.
He then turns and threatens the woman in the group.
When the second soldier steps in to help, the attacker unleashes a devastating punch to the face, sending the GI sprawling backward onto the pavement, out cold and lying motionless for some time.
Witnesses called the police, who arrived and arrested the suspect on the spot as a red-handed offender.
Pyeongtaek police have booked the 30-something American on assault charges. He reportedly told investigators he didn’t know the victims but flew into a rage after they allegedly ignored him and swore at him.
The soldiers were reportedly left dazed and injured, with one knocked unconscious in the middle of the street.
