A motorcyclist in Albania took a nasty spill after a van driver casually opened his door right into oncoming traffic, sending the rider and his red Honda tumbling to the pavement in a dramatic caught-on-camera crash.
The wild footage, captured on an Insta360 camera by local outlet Tirana24 MEDIA, shows the biker zipping between lanes of backed-up traffic in Tirana when the white van’s door flies open without warning. The front of the motorcycle slams into the door, the bike tips over, and the rider goes down hard on the street.
The biker was clearly lane-splitting through stopped or slow-moving traffic in the Albanian capital when the collision happened near the former Customs House. The van driver appears to have opened the door without checking his mirrors or looking for approaching vehicles, a classic “dooring” move that’s dangerous for anyone on two wheels.
Albanian media overlaid the video with text calling it a “dangerous accident in Tirana” caused by the door opening, cutting off the motorist’s path.
The rider, wearing a white t-shirt, helmet and backpack, quickly got back on his feet after the crash. Reports indicate he suffered arm injuries and received medical attention, but no life-threatening wounds were reported.
Online, the blame game is in full swing. Plenty of commenters hammered the van driver for not looking before opening the door in the middle of traffic. Others pointed the finger at the motorcyclist for filtering between lanes, arguing he was going too fast or taking unnecessary risks.
Some even suggested the door swing looked deliberate, while others said it was just careless driving in chaotic city traffic.
For now, the rider is lucky to be walking away with just an arm injury after what could have been a much worse outcome. The clip is a stark reminder that in heavy traffic, one careless move can send someone flying.
