A 12-year-old girl was allegedly forced into the path of a violent mob outside a Zara store in Bristol, triggering a shocking attack that has left the child too traumatised to return to school and sparked furious protests from parents.
The assault unfolded on March 14 inside and outside the Zara branch at Cabot Circus, where witnesses say the girl was harassed inside the store before being pushed out by security into a group waiting outside.
Footage circulating online appears to show the disturbing sequence of events.
One video shows a confrontation inside the shop escalating into aggression as a crowd gathers around the young girl. Another clip filmed outside captures the moment the violence erupts, with multiple attackers surrounding the child, knocking her to the ground and repeatedly kicking and stomping on her head.
The attack has triggered widespread outrage after claims that store staff escorted or forced the girl outside, directly into the waiting group.
Police later confirmed they were called to the incident and launched an investigation into the assault.
Officers from Avon and Somerset Police say the violence may be linked to a disturbing online trend known as “school wars”, where young people organise confrontations through social media.
Five people have since been arrested in connection with the attack, including several minors.
The victim’s family says the girl has been left deeply shaken by the ordeal and is currently too traumatised to attend school.
Anger over the incident spilled onto the streets the following day, when parents and supporters gathered outside the store on March 15 to demand accountability.
Video from the protest shows demonstrators chanting and confronting staff outside the shop while demanding answers about what happened inside.
The protest temporarily forced the closure of the Zara branch, part of the global fashion chain owned by Inditex.
Witnesses and parents have accused the store of failing to protect the child during the escalating confrontation.
The incident has raised serious questions about retail safety and how businesses respond when violent confrontations break out inside their premises.
As police continue their investigation, the shocking videos have ignited a national debate about youth violence, social media trends encouraging attacks, and whether stores are properly equipped to protect vulnerable customers when situations spiral out of control.
