A disturbing video posted on X has gone viral, showing a motorcyclist losing control of his bike on a dark road and suffering a horrifying slide on his head along the pavement, without wearing a helmet or any protective riding gear.
The roughly 80-second POV footage, captured with an Insta360 X5 camera, begins with the rider traveling down a nighttime paved road under streetlights. The bike, appearing to be a sport model, suddenly encounters what many viewers identified as a dangerous “death wobble, a violent, high-speed oscillation that can quickly lead to loss of control.
As the motorcycle goes down, the rider’s head makes contact with the asphalt and slides dramatically across the surface. The clip has been widely described online as showing a “diabolical” head slide. In a surprising twist captured in the video, the rider quickly gets back to his feet after the crash and runs back down the road, apparently disoriented or in shock from the impact.
Death wobbles, while relatively rare, are often caused by mechanical issues such as worn tires, improper tire pressure, loose steering head bearings, or rider inputs at higher speeds. Slowing down gradually without sudden braking or gripping the bars too tightly is one recommended way to regain control, according to rider forums and safety discussions.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks motorcyclists face every time they ride without proper gear. Even when a rider survives the initial impact and gets back up — as this one did, the potential for serious road rash, head trauma, and long-term injury remains high without a DOT-approved helmet and protective clothing.
