A man casually strolled into a SweetFrog frozen yogurt shop in Hampton, Virginia, and helped himself to another customer’s ice cream while the guy was sitting with his two young children — and the whole bizarre encounter was captured on video.
The chilling surveillance footage, which has exploded across social media in recent days, shows the suspect entering the store and making a beeline for the family’s table. Without hesitation, he approaches the man in the light green shirt and leans in, appearing to harass or confront him before snatching a cup of frozen yogurt right off the table.
The kids, a young girl and boy, react immediately. One scrambles away from the table as the father stands up, but appears to keep his distance rather than confront the intruder. The thief then walks off with the stolen treat toward the entrance, lingering near the door while the shaken family looks on.
No physical fight broke out. No one inside the shop rushed to intervene. The man simply took what he wanted and made his exit, or at least hung around the front of the store afterward.
SweetFrog locations are popular family spots, especially with kids who love picking their own toppings. This one in Hampton turned into something far less sweet on Monday when the unprovoked theft unfolded in broad daylight.
Police have not yet released any information about an arrest or investigation into the incident. The video shows no weapons and no serious injuries, just pure audacity and a family left rattled.
