A 54-year-old creep was busted after allegedly using his cellphone to secretly record a young boy urinating in the stall next to him inside a men’s restroom at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Samuel Nutt of Rolling Meadows was taken into custody at the scene Friday night, June 26, after witnesses, including a group of teenagers, caught him in the disgusting act and held him until police arrived.
Schaumburg police responded to the upscale mall around 8:30 p.m. after getting a report of a suspicious person videotaping a juvenile. Investigators quickly determined Nutt had used his phone to record the boy using the adjacent stall.
He now faces a Class 3 felony charge of unauthorized videotaping of a minor.
Viral video of the chaotic confrontation has been circulating online, showing the bald suspect, wearing a blue Carnival cruise T-shirt and with his own pants reportedly still down, being surrounded and detained by angry mall-goers right after the sick incident.
Witnesses say the boy’s pants were also down as the creep desperately tried to delete the footage, muttering things like “I’m gonna get rid of it” and “I will delete it.”The brave teens who jumped into action refused to let him walk away. They snatched his phone, held the suspect in place, and ensured mall security and the Schaumburg police were called immediately. They even exchanged contact info with the young victim so he could receive a copy of the video of the confrontation.
Nutt appeared for a detention hearing Monday and is due back in court July 24 at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse. He was released pretrial on electronic monitoring and ordered to stay away from children and the mall.
Police confirmed the felony charge but have not publicly detailed what else, if anything, was found on his phone.
