BALTIMORE – Shocking surveillance video out of Baltimore captures a group of six Black teens viciously attacking a 74-year-old White man in broad daylight, or rather, under the lights of a convenience store parking lot, stomping and kicking him repeatedly as he lay defenseless on the ground.
The disturbing footage, which has gone viral on social media, shows the elderly victim being swarmed outside a 7-Eleven store. According to the post that first brought widespread attention to the incident, police indicated the suspects were armed with an assault weapon and a sword during the ruthless beating. The teens are seen kicking the man, stomping on him, and continuing the assault even after he was down, in what witnesses and online observers described as a merciless mob attack.
The video, sped up from security cameras, depicts the group surrounding the senior citizen, with several individuals taking turns striking him while others stand by or walk casually through the lot. One frame shows the victim motionless on the pavement as the assailants continue their onslaught before eventually dispersing.
Baltimore, long plagued by high crime rates and questions about law enforcement priorities, has once again found itself at the center of a national conversation about violence against vulnerable residents. Critics have pointed to lenient policies, revolving-door justice, and a focus on "equity" over public safety as contributing factors to such brazen attacks in the city.
No arrests have been publicly announced as of Thursday afternoon, though authorities are expected to use the clear video evidence to identify and apprehend the suspects. Police have not yet released an official statement detailing charges, but sources familiar with the investigation say the case is being treated with urgency given the victim's age and the apparent weapons involved.
