A North Carolina mother is under fire after posting a jaw-dropping video that appears to show her deliberately triggering a severe allergic reaction by scarfing down shellfish, all so she could score a trip to the emergency room at taxpayers’ expense.

The clip, which exploded on social media Saturday, shows the woman in a gray hoodie and bold red glasses sitting in her car with a foil tray of what looks like lobster or crab legs dipped in butter. A cheeky red text overlay blares: “It was so worth the hospital trip ” as she happily munches away.

Split-screen footage flips to the same woman later in a hospital bed, looking teary-eyed and miserable, while a screenshot of her Aetna app reveals a listed shellfish allergy and side effects from sulfa antibiotics, including nausea and vomiting.

The woman is seen casually dipping pieces of shellfish into sauce, licking her fingers, and grinning at the camera before the scene cuts to her in apparent distress at the hospital. One version of the clip circulating online claims her young daughter was crying in the backseat during the stunt in an ER parking lot, adding a heartbreaking layer to the saga.

Social media erupted in fury, with users blasting the mom for abusing the system.

“She’s over there eating lobster that taxpayers paid for, then into the ER that taxpayers paid for,” one commenter fumed. “And here WE are, not eating lobster... and paying $1,200 a month for health insurance.”

Others called for her to be sued for “theft of services,” while some questioned whether Child Protective Services should get involved given the child’s alleged presence.

The video has drawn comparisons to other viral cases of apparent ER gaming, where people exploit emergency rooms for non-emergencies, a costly problem for the already strained healthcare system funded by working Americans.
