A brazen cameraman who repeatedly begged a gun-toting stranger to "shoot me" got his deadly wish in a wild nighttime confrontation that has exploded into a furious online debate over who was really in the wrong.
Shocking video circulating on X shows the tattooed man in a black fedora and "Social Distortion" T-shirt aggressively tailing the armed suspect through scaffolding-lined streets late at night. The gunman, wearing a cap and a heavy chain, is seen trying to walk away multiple times while clutching a black handgun, only for the cameraman to pursue him, taunting and demanding that he open fire.
"Come on, shoot me!" the cameraman yells, according to witnesses and footage, as he closes in despite the clear threat. The armed man backs off, but the relentless pursuit continues until a single shot rings out, dropping the provocateur.
A friend of the injured cameraman has since taken to social media questioning whether the shooting was justified, sparking a firestorm of reactions.
Video frames capture the chaotic scene: shaky handheld footage under city lights, the gunman gesturing and retreating, the cameraman closing the distance with his crewmate nearby. At one point, the armed man appears to warn off the pursuers before the fatal moment.
Legal experts say the case could hinge on whether the gunman's fear of imminent harm was reasonable after being chased and taunted. In many states, verbal provocation alone doesn't justify lethal force, but pursuing an armed person while daring them to kill you could flip the script.
