NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin pulled every string in the book, including her own former federal prosecutor title and her son’s Harvard diploma, after cops caught the 24-year-old jogging on active Metro-North Railroad tracks, newly released bodycam footage shows.
Gabriel Hostin was collared June 16 near 24 Station Plaza in New Rochelle after officers spotted him ignoring “no trespassing” signs and strolling along the right-of-way, according to MTA police and court records. He told officers the gate was open and he was just out for a run.
Bodycam video obtained by The Post captures the dramatic scene as Hostin, 57, jumps on the phone with her son during the stop, then races to the scene herself.“My name is Sunny Hostin and I’m one of the co-hosts of ‘The View’ and I’m a former federal prosecutor,” the ABC talk-show star announces to officers, according to the footage.
She quickly pivots to her son’s résumé: “He’s a Harvard grad who teaches 4th grade geometry to South Bronx kids. God bless.”Hostin, who has repeatedly slammed “white privilege” on her daytime show, insisted the trespass was an innocent mistake and urged cops to cut the young man a break.
Gabriel, who has no prior criminal record, was issued a summons for criminal trespass instead of being hauled off in cuffs. He is due back in court July 31 — with mom representing him.
Sources said the aspiring teacher claimed he entered through an open gate for “hill training” and was unaware of the active tracks danger. Officers noted he was cooperative once stopped.
The incident has exploded online, with critics blasting the apparent double standard from the celebrity mom who has built a career calling out others for leveraging status and connections.
Hostin has not publicly commented on the bodycam release.
The railroad tracks in question are strictly off-limits to the public for safety reasons, with trespassing considered an arrestable offense in many cases. MTA Police have ramped up enforcement after several near-miss incidents involving pedestrians.
