Dating in 2026 is already a minefield of red flags, ghosting, and weird app profiles. But this one takes the cake—and then packs up five extra slices to-go for the kids waiting at home.
Cedric Maddox dropped a storytime that has the internet in an absolute chokehold. Guy takes a woman out on a first date. Standard dinner, trying to get to know each other, the usual. They order, they eat, everything’s rolling along fine. Then, before the check even hits the table, she starts stacking up extra to-go plates. Multiple ones. For her three, four, five kids sitting at home who never got the invitation.
She fully expected him to cover the entire order like he was running a family meal-prep service. When he pushed back and said he was only covering their own meals, the ones for the two adults actually sitting at the table, she lost it. “
Y’all hear this? He just told me I can’t take food home for my kids.” She hit him with the classic “if you were a real man you’d pay for my family too” line and even started filming the confrontation.
He stayed calm, which is more than most of us would’ve managed. He made it clear: “We’re on a date trying to get to know each other… I think it’s kind of disrespectful… that you would order all these three, four, five kids for your family at home, all these extra to-go plates, and you think I should pay for them. I’m not paying for them.”
He paid for what he ordered for the two of them and told her to handle the rest. No second date. Boom. Done. He walked.
