A routine morning shift turned into a life-or-death struggle when a wild leopard stormed into a liquor store in northern India and attacked the shopkeeper in broad daylight, all caught on chilling security camera footage.

The dramatic incident unfolded around 8:45 a.m. on July 20 in Todaraisingh, a town in Rajasthan’s Tonk district. A 5-year-old male leopard, believed to have strayed from nearby forest hills, first injured a forest volunteer and then attacked another shopkeeper before charging into the spirits shop.

Inside, 25-year-old salesman Sanjay Gurjar was behind the counter when the big cat suddenly leaped over it and latched onto him with its claws. The video shows the leopard repeatedly lunging at Gurjar as bottles and boxes scatter across the floor. Screams can be heard as the young man desperately fights back.

“I somehow pushed the leopard away and ran towards the exit… As I ran, I pulled the shutter down. Then I lost consciousness,” Gurjar later recounted.

Gurjar suffered injuries to his hand, shoulder, and nose but managed to escape and slam the metal shutter shut, trapping the animal inside the store. Locals quickly secured the area while the leopard prowled among the shelves, knocking over bottles of alcohol.

Wildlife officials from Jaipur eventually arrived. After a five-hour operation, specialists tranquilized the leopard and safely relocated it back into the wild.

Authorities say the incident highlights the growing problem of human-wildlife conflict in Rajasthan, where leopards increasingly venture into towns and markets as habitats shrink.

The shocking CCTV clip has gone viral, offering a rare and intense look at just how quickly a quiet workday can turn deadly when nature crashes through the door.
