A brazen man has been caught on camera claiming a massive wad of cash dropped in the middle of a packed London street belongs to him, only for the whole thing to be exposed as a cheeky prank.
In the viral clip, filmed in a bustling central London square, a young Indian man is seen instantly scooping up what appears to be a bundle of £20,000 in notes that has been left lying on the pavement.
Rather than handing it in or walking away, he immediately starts insisting the money is his. When challenged by the prankster – known online as Mr London Got Jokes – the man becomes increasingly animated.
He places his hand on his chest, swears the cash is his own, and even starts making phone calls, telling someone on the other end of the line that “he gave me money to keep.”At one point he claims the cash came from a casino. At another, he says he is “new here” and was simply looking after the money for someone else. The excuses keep coming thick and fast as he refuses to give the bundle back.
The footage, which has now racked up more than a million views after being shared on X, shows the man growing more and more insistent while passers-by look on. Overlaid text on the video repeatedly questions his story, with laughing emojis accompanying captions about him being “on the phone to his brother.”Prankster Mr London Got Jokes has built a following by dropping large amounts of (prop) cash in public places across the capital and filming the reactions. In this particular video, the reaction is pure gold – or rather, pure brass neck.
Social media users were quick to pile in. Many slammed the man’s behaviour as “shameless,” while others pointed out that similar pranks regularly catch people of all backgrounds trying their luck.
The clip ends with a QR code directing viewers to the prankster’s TikTok account, where he regularly posts these money-drop experiments under the simple challenge: “What would you do?”
Whether the cash was real or fake, the man’s reaction has left thousands of viewers shaking their heads and asking the same question the prankster poses in every video.
