A deranged Miami mother was locked up after she posted wild Instagram videos of herself pouring scorching hot candle wax onto her little girls’ hands, then setting her kitchen on fire while the kids were still inside.
Meliza Campos-Sanchez, 26, faces charges of first-degree arson, child abuse and child neglect after the shocking Sunday incident in Miami-Dade County, according to arrest reports.
In one clip, the mom, decked out in a sparkly silver mask and skimpy burgundy outfit, danced and sang around the kitchen while spraying what investigators believe was rubbing alcohol on a pile of clothes, then lighting them up with a red lighter. Flames erupted on the floor as her two daughters, ages 3 and 6, were home.
In a second video, Campos-Sanchez used lit candles to drip “hot melted candle wax” onto her own leg before pouring it into the palms of her young daughters. The 6-year-old later told deputies the wax “burned” and that her mom kept insisting, “You can’t be afraid of anything!”
The older girl said she and her sister watched their mother start the fire, throw a glass mug to the floor while dancing, then use a bowl of water to put the flames out herself. Authorities later found burned clothing remnants in a trash can outside the home.
Deputies responded to the intentional kitchen blaze in the 4200 block of Southwest 95th Avenue. Campos-Sanchez was first taken to a hospital under Florida’s Baker Act for a mental health evaluation before being booked into jail.
Court records show she was charged after investigators discovered the Instagram posts, which she shared with her roughly 55,000 followers. The self-described “Realtor sin filtros” who claims to help women build confidence, had filmed the entire episode.
Her estranged husband, Yusniel Cue, told authorities the couple had separated about a week earlier and he was staying with his parents. Friends had alerted him to the videos. The girls are now in his custody.
Campos-Sanchez remained in custody at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center following her arrest.
