A Colorado bounty hunter just pulled off one of the wildest fugitive recoveries in recent memory, unzipping a blue suitcase on a bedroom floor to find a woman curled up inside after she skipped court.
The video shows the recovery agent standing over the hard-shell bag in a cluttered room.“We cool, we’ll let you smoke… Okay, come on, come on, get on out. We know you in there!” he says, as he flips the lid.
Out pops a disheveled woman with dark curly hair, looking more embarrassed than surprised. She had apparently stuffed herself into the suitcase in a last-ditch bid to dodge the bounty hunter after missing a court appearance.
The hunter’s casual offer to let her finish smoking before coming out has viewers howling. Social media users immediately assumed the worst, with the original clip captioned as her “presumably smoking crack” inside her makeshift hiding spot.
Colorado bounty hunters, officially called fugitive recovery agents, operate with wide latitude when a defendant skips bail. They can enter a skipper’s own home without a warrant if the bond contract allows it. Hiding in luggage, however, is not covered in the fine print.
