This Dude Entered a Swim Race As If The Only Water His Body Has Ever Came In Contact With Was His Shower And It Showed

There are bad athletic performances, and then there is whatever happened in this pool. A grown man walked up to the starting block like he was about to drop a world-record 50 free. Chest out. Serious face. Full “I train in the mornings” energy.

Then the race started.

He launched himself into the water with all the grace of a refrigerator being pushed off a loading dock. The splash was so violent it looked like someone had dropped a motorcycle into the shallow end. From that moment forward, the race was no longer a competition. It was a search-and-rescue operation that the guy was conducting on himself.

His stroke can only be described as “drowning with extra steps.” Arms slapping the surface like he was trying to high-five every molecule of water individually. Legs kicking in a pattern that science has not yet named. At one point he was moving so slowly that people on the deck started checking their phones. A dog on the side of the pool looked more hydrodynamic.

The rest of the field was already flipping at the wall while this man was still negotiating terms with the first 15 meters. By the time he reached the flags, the other swimmers had finished, dried off, and were probably considering lunch options. He eventually made it down the lane looking like he had just completed a 400 IM in a washing machine set to “agitate.”

This was not a race. This was a public service announcement about the difference between “I can swim” and “I have been in water before.” The kind of performance that makes you question every life decision that led this man to believe lining up next to actual swimmers was a good idea.

Somebody get this guy a kickboard and a participation ribbon. The pool has seen enough.
