A TikTok mom just dropped the sharpest take yet on the Lindsay Clancy circus, and country star John Rich is asking the women of America if they’re buying it.
Rich posted the clip Monday with a simple question: “Ladies, do you agree with this woman?” The video has already racked up hundreds of thousands of views. The woman behind the wheel, talking straight into the camera with a coffee in hand, doesn’t scream. She doesn’t cry. She just lays out the logic with enough sarcasm to cut glass.Her point is brutal and simple: stop pretending a mother who strangled her three kids is the real victim here. Stop blaming the husband, the doctors, the hormones, society, or “the system.” Somebody has to own the act.
On Jan. 24, 2023, Lindsay Clancy, then a 32-year-old labor-and-delivery nurse in Duxbury, Mass., sent her husband Patrick out for takeout and laxatives. While he was gone, she used exercise resistance bands to strangle 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan in the basement. Then she slashed her own wrists and neck and jumped from a second-story window. She survived, paralyzed from the waist down. The baby died three days later.
She never denied doing it. Her defense argued postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder meant she wasn’t criminally responsible. Prosecutors said she planned it, knew it was wrong, and cooked up the voice-in-her-head story after the fact. After six weeks of trial and nearly 40 hours of deliberations, the jury deadlocked. One holdout refused to acquit. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on Sept. 4. Next court date: Sept. 29. Prosecutors still haven’t said if they’ll retry her.
Meanwhile, a pink-clad army of TikTok moms turned Clancy into a martyr. “Same, Lindsay” videos flooded the platform. Women filmed themselves holding their own babies and quoting Clancy’s diary like it was scripture. GoFundMe accounts for her family pulled in nearly a million bucks. Hundreds rallied outside the Plymouth courthouse. The murdered children barely got a mention.

She doesn’t deny mental illness exists. She doesn’t pretend postpartum is a picnic. What she mocks is the idea that once you slap the word “psychosis” on it, personal responsibility evaporates. If hormones can wipe out the murder of three children, the argument goes, then every other crime suddenly has a chemical get-out-of-jail-free card. The door swings both ways. You don’t get to open it for one and slam it shut for everyone else.
Replies under Rich’s post got the joke immediately. “She’s brilliant,” one woman wrote. “I hope people can see the irony.” Another added: “It’s definitely our fault & we all need to take this little thing called RESPONSIBILITY. Anyone excusing Clancy needs to get their head and heart checked.”
Sensible commentary has been saying the same thing for weeks. The case isn’t complicated. She murdered her kids. There is only one logical verdict. The rest is noise.
Clancy remains at Tewksbury Hospital. Her lawyer wants a directed verdict of not guilty. The DA’s office is still deciding whether to put the country through this again. The kids are still dead.
The sarcastic mom in the car didn’t offer a legal brief. She offered a gut check. John Rich just put it in front of every woman scrolling past and asked the only question that matters now: Do you agree? Or are we still pretending this was anybody’s fault but the woman who did it?
